Derby Days

Another week of fun & good times
has begun; with it also comes
an unsung excitement to be
supporting a good cause,
those moments of unsung
randomness, occasional craziness
we've all gotten used to
during events like these.
Life indeed doesn't get any better
than during the next few days or so.

Life indeed always look good
during occasions of this magnitude:
I'm getting on out of dodge
to show my support when I can,
to represent whoever I choose
(but everyone
at this point in time
knows what side I've truly been on
all along). And if that's
not enough I'm truly living life
to the fullest: During these Days
who wouldn't?

For the coaches, participants,
just the same: Excitement is in full swing,
wherever you go around here.
It's in the air, all around,
waiting to set itself free.
Anyone who can't fire up
for this event is missing the boat,
losing out on a chance
to take part in such excitement.
It's time to get ready, get prepared -
no stalling for time,
no waiting around until Saturday
just to put those game faces on.

Soon I'll get into a car,
be off once more: to live these moments
of wildness, fun that never seems
to have an ending once it begins.
And what better time to start
living life all over again than now,
this week,
right here at this house.
